Student Respect - 3 comments

Via NewerLabour (also here), here's what purports to be (though it could so easily be a spoof) an NUS election broadcast from the student wing of the "RESPECT Coalition" - probably (though I'll accept alternative nominations) the most brain-addling of the many fascist-apologising political organisations found on these isles.

I may embed a video in here some day, but I'm certainly not going to start here. Please swallow whatever you're eating or drinking before viewing.

Update: some more Respect-oriented idiocy (not deserving of a post in its own right): Lena de Casparis' silly article at CiF on the injustice of Ugly Rumours' "War" track (complete with George Galloway cameo) not doing better in the charts. I listened to it so you don't have to, and even in today's "hit parade" this doesn't deserve to be higher than #21.

It gets worse. You should see what's going on in Manchester. I have a copy of the Jewish Telegraph dated March the 2nd, bearing the front page headline:

"Students Slam 'Terror Uni' Link Up Bid".

This would of course be talking about our twinning with Al-Najah, uni of 19 suicide bombers, with a full 'martyrs roll' and recruitment at freshers' fairs.

Luckily our non-aggression pact with the Jewish society, tories (!), libdems, Hindus and independent lefters has been enough to take out most of the root of the rotting tooth that is respect.

However, fragments remain.

They are still sailing on the wind Iraq and Lebanon provided for their sails. But hopefully the atmosphere will calm.

499 for me; not bad for someone who campaigned for the candidate running against them! ;o)

thanks for posting that short-film. I would have voted Respect if I was at NUS conference on the strength of that. Not quite sure what bit was like a 'spoof' though - images of the dead civilians and their bombed houses? All real I'm afraid. And all supported by this Labour government. That's why you have hardly any members left.
