Blog Awards: results

Voting is over, and the results are in. The “Voters” column indicates how many different people gave that blog some votes; “Total Votes” the total number given by those people.

The winners are:

The DailyBest Blog and Best Newcomer
NewerLabourBest Young Blogger
“Harry Perkins”Top Blogging Personality
Antonia BanceBest Blog of an Elected Representative
Never Trust a HippyBest Community Activism
Dave’s PartBest non-Labour Blog
Iain DaleWooden Spoon Award
us! – Best Use of Technology

NOTA “won” Best Trade Union Blog, though Jon’s Union Blog was the highest-scoring blog.

What did you think about the use of “none of the above”, and there being ten votes each?

NB. If you fancy running your own poll – with your own categories, questions, and maximum number of votes – using the voting system you’ve just used yourself and already grown to love, let me know.

Dave Osler/Spart isn’t a non-labour blog any more, he has rejoined the Labour Party.

Thanks everyone who voted for me. It’s all a bit random!

the ‘10 votes’ think is brilliant btw, makes results v. reflective.

Not sure if RON is particularly positive though. If people don’t like stuff, perhaps they should self nominate? just a thought.

    Hi Tom,

Basically I thought – seeing as I was setting up the software/database from scratch – that I might as well give the voter as much flexibility as possible, including some of the things that get proposed for real elections.

One thing we can’t do is “write-in” candidates, though it might have been cool to allow that, and another was being able to reallocate your votes after you’ve cast them. It also might have been fun to see if people tried to move them away from candidates who looked like losing, etc., but maybe that would have trivialised things?

Now it’s set up I’ll try to have more polls, and maybe those things will make an appearance in the future.
